Robinson Anderson Summers

, Inc. (RAS) is an award-winning landscape architectural design firm recognized for its institutional and residential work. RAS’s entire body of work is sensitive to landscape history and site ecology. Our mission as designers is grounded in enhancing beauty, functionality, and the emotive power of place. Combining artistry with environmental stewardship is the hallmark of the RAS landscape portfolio. The small size of the firm enables the principals to maintain meaningful involvement in every project.

Who We Serve

RAS provides planning and design services through all phases of landscape architecture, including LEED documentation. Projects undertaken range broadly in scope, size, complexity, and location; the firm has practiced across the country from Florida up to New York and New England, west to Ohio, Illinois, and Iowa. Whether retained as prime or as a sub-consultant, RAS has a reputation for collaborating effectively with architects, engineers, conservators, environmental consultants, artists, and horticulturists. Additionally, Residential gardens have played an important role throughout the history of the firm. Rodney Robinson

Founder, FASLA, LEED A.P., Emeritus

Meet Rodney

Rodney Robinson is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects and has been practicing landscape architecture for over thirty-five years. He is primarily recognized for his work in public and private gardens, which has taken him across the country. He has won several awards for his work and developments in the field of landscape architecture, and continues to develop the profession through education and community activism. Rodney retired from the firm in 2020. He stays involved in the design community through teaching and advocating for the profession.

Geoff Anderson

Principal RLA, ASLA, LEED A.P.

Meet Geoff

Geoff has over thirty years of experience designing public and private gardens, historic landscapes, and urban spaces. He received his BS in Horticulture from North Carolina State University and Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.
His most recent projects include a series of park renovations for the City of Wilmington and State of Delaware, healing gardens for several hospitals, and zoo exhibits across the country. He has worked on new campus projects for the University of Delaware and multiple social clubs at Princeton University. Geoff teaches Advanced Landscape Design through the Longwood Gardens Continuing Education program. He enjoys creating new gardens in and around his residence in Swarthmore.

Allan Summers

Principal, RLA, ASLA , LEED A.P.

Meet Allan

Allan has a passion for horticulture and fine art and has been providing planning and design services through all phases of landscape architecture for over twenty-five years. He brings significant experience collaborating with other disciplines, running workshops, and working with public gardens and cultural institutions to design gardens of distinction. As a LEED accredited professional, he is sensitive to regional context and plant and materials selections to create ecologically based designs.

Jennifer Pennington

RLA, Associate

Meet Jennifer

Jen received her BLA from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Syracuse. Her past experience includes work at two local public gardens, Longwood Gardens and Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve. When not in the office she can be found searching for wildflowers and vistas in the Adirondack Mountains.

Annalisa Vapaa

Landscape Architectural Designer

Meet Annalisa

Prior to joining RAS in 2008, Annie received her BS in Agricultural Sciences with a concentration in Ornamental Horticulture from the University of Delaware and her Master of Landscape Architecture from Virginia Tech. She enjoys working on a variety of projects from zoo exhibits to community parks and in all aspects from schematic design through the construction documentation process. From new projects to existing sites in need of restoration and renovation, Annie prides herself in being a good listener with attention to detail. After 20 years of gardening on a small suburban property she is looking forward to designing a woodland garden on the new wooded property she now calls home and exploring the local byways on her bicycle.

Andrew Calderone

Landscape Architectural Designer

Meet Andrew

Andrew Joined the firm in 2016 after spending time in the engineering world. He holds a B.S. in Landscape Architecture from Philadelphia University. His responsibilities include leading our Graphics, Construction Documentation and Planning, and Project Management. Andrews recent work with the firm includes the Masterplan for Appleford Estate in Villanova, Ivy Club of Princeton University, and the Morris Arboretum and Gardens Rose Garden. He currently lives in Philadelphia, and spends his free time down the shore, exploring Fairmount park, or at his local coffee shop.

Jeanine Snyder

Business Manager

Meet Jeanine

Jeanine performs all internal accounting and human resource functions for RAS. Jeanine is married with four sons. She loves traveling and country music.

Liz Krohn

Landscape Designer

Meet Liz

Liz received her BS in Biology and Environmental Science from St. Joseph’s University before receiving her Master of Landscape Architecture from Temple University. Her experience includes working on residential planting plans, multi-family apartment courtyard construction documentation, and municipal parks and trails planning and design. When not working Liz can be found caring for her many houseplants, walking her dog Augie, crocheting with friends, or planning her next traveling adventure.
