project description
RAS is lead designer for the this new garden space, a collaboration between the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and Drexel University. Located at the intersection of 32nd and Market Street, The Gateway Garden at Drexel will showcase urban horticulture at its finest and will serve as a vibrant entrance to Drexel’s campus.
In developing the design, RAS facilitated planning workshops with diverse stakeholders including students and community representatives. The Gateway Garden will incorporate their desire for flexible seating options and rich plantings, as well as open areas for planned and spontaneous performances. Theatrical landscape lighting and the inclusion of art work will enrich the garden experience. Custom built raised planters will frame the seating spaces. Careful consideration was given to access for maintenance and food trucks.
