Alfred I. Dupont Hospital’s new roof garden design provides a place for both patients, families and staff for connecting to nature and finding a quiet place to relax.

The roof garden was built over the new emergency room area and in between the new and existing hospital buildings, creating a long corridor space of extensive plantings enhancing a sense of privacy. Decorative paving and healing inspired art installations enrich the garden for the visitors.

Site Master Plan

The site masterplan for the new five-story Alfred I. Dupont hospital expansion includes outdoor dining areas, a children’s garden, and a green rooftop terrace healing garden. Plans for the grounds incorporate parking lot plantings and storm water best management practices, protection measures for mature specimen trees, and special consideration to preserve the property’s historic character and adjacent views from Nemours Mansion & Gardens.
