project description
High Glen is a 60-acre private estate located in Frederick County, Maryland. The owner has developed extensive ornamental gardens to complement the house. RAS prepared a Master Plan with a twenty-year phased approach to realizing the owner’s goal of developing one of the premier private gardens in the Washington, D.C metropolitan region. The plan took shape through a series of collaborative work sessions with the owners, and their horticultural staff. When fully realized, High Glen will have both wooded and open lands, formal and naturalistic gardens, sculpture gardens – all with an emphasis on responsible garden and land management practices. RAS helped to implement the first phases of the plan, overseeing extensive plantings to transform open fields to woodlands and designed an Asian inspired foot bridge to traverse the wetland garden.
