project description
The Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania is the official arboretum of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The George D. Widener Education & Visitor Center, originally a carriage house built in 1888, is a welcome point for visitors to the Arboretum and houses a gift shop, seasonal café, and lecture hall. As part of a building renovation project, RAS designed a public gathering space at the expanded front entrance. Incoming visitors now pass through new entry piers to an accessible terrace appointed with graceful lighting and composed of natural materials sympathetic to the architectural character of the historic building.
